Whether served straight from the skillet or baked into a bubbling casserole, it’s the ultimate comfort food your whole family will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
  • Pickle slices or chopped pickles (optional)

Instructions

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook chopped turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.

Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.

Add diced onion and minced garlic to the beef and cook for 2–3 minutes, until softened.

Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Add cooked rice and stir to combine evenly with the meat mixture.

Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and stir until melted and incorporated.

Stir in cooked turkey bacon and garnish with green onions and pickles if desired.

Serve hot as a one-pan meal.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked rice to save time and ensure the dish doesn’t turn mushy.

  • For a keto version, swap in cauliflower rice and sugar-free condiments.

  • Always crisp bacon separately before mixing it in — it prevents sogginess.

  • For best results, garnish right before serving to maintain texture.

  • Let leftovers cool before storing to avoid condensation and sogginess in the fridge.
