Ingredients
-
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
-
12 oz beef sausage, sliced into ½-inch rounds
-
2 cups broccoli florets
-
2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
Optional: ½ tsp red pepper flakes
For the honey garlic sauce:
-
⅓ cup honey
-
¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
-
1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice (no wine)
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
-
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar or lemon juice, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 4–5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil. Add shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the sausage.
Add broccoli florets to the pan along with a splash of water. Cover and steam for 3–4 minutes until just tender. Remove lid and cook off excess water.
Return sausage and shrimp to the pan. Pour in the honey garlic sauce and stir to coat everything evenly.
Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Pour into the pan and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1–2 minutes.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or red pepper flakes as desired.
Serve hot over rice, quinoa, or noodles.
