Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup salsa
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large flour tortillas
- Vegetable oil, for brushing or frying
Instructions
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped onion until softened. Add garlic and sauté for another minute.
Add ground beef and cook until fully browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
Stir in taco seasoning, salt, pepper, and salsa. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Lay out the tortillas and divide the beef mixture evenly among them. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef.
Fold in the sides of each tortilla and roll up tightly like a burrito.
Brush each chimichanga lightly with oil, or spray with cooking spray for air frying or oven baking.
For oven baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), place chimichangas on a baking sheet, and bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden and crispy.
For air frying: Place in air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Serve hot with sour cream, guacamole, or extra salsa if desired.
